KINGWOOD COMICS

Born and raised in the exotic town of Frenchtown NJ, David Crownson grew up with a passion for storytelling which started with comics and film. This has served him as an actor and writer. His next comic after Harriet Tubman Demon Slayer is Nightmare In Newark published by his company Kingwood Comics. He loves his mom, Red Lobster biscuits, long walks, petting your dog and can be seen on the YouTube series Bubbly Brown Sugar and is followed by Barack Obama on Twitter.

DAVID F. WALKER

David F. Walker is an award-winning comic book writer, author, filmmaker, journalist, and educator. His work in comic books includes Shaft (Dynamite Entertainment), winner of the 2015 Glyph Award for Story of the Year, Luke Cage, Occupy Avengers, Power Man and Iron Fist, Nighthawk, Fury, Secret Wars: Battleworld (Marvel Comics), Cyborg (DC Comics), and his upcoming graphic novel, The Black Panther Party: A Graphic History. Recognized as a leading scholar expert of African-American cinema and an adjunct professor at Portland State University.

THE BAYLIES

The BAYlies started as a project in 2018 to archive, connect and document Cartoonists of Color and Queer Cartoonists either from or based in the Bay Area because "History" has a way of removing us. Started by cartoonist Lawrence Lindell on a living room floor in Oakland, The BAYlies is on a mission to document and connect as many Bay Area Cartoonists of Color and Queer Cartoonists as possible. In 2020, The BAYlies Art Grant, an art grant for Cartoonists of Color and Queer Cartoonists in the Bay Area was started by Breena Nuñez and Lawrence Lindell.

Black Josei Press

Black Josei Press is a comic book publisher founded and run by Jamila Rowser. It’s focused on amplifying stories by and for Black and Brown women. It’s known for publishing Wash Day, Wobbledy 3000, Sun and Sand Comic Anthology, and the upcoming Saddest Angriest Black Girl in Town.

Boogie Down Books

Boogie Down Books is a bookstore-without-walls® for kids, teens, families, and educators in the Bronx and beyond. Through transformative reading experiences and inspiring community events, we push the boundaries of what a traditional children’s bookstore typically does by curating, designing, and facilitating programs and services that center young people and the grown-ups who read with them. We prioritize amplifying literature by and about members of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and under-represented communities.

Bc2art

Brian Cannady II (aka bc2art) is a multimedia artist and avid fan of mythology, superheroes, and manga. He has exhibited his work in several comic cons along the east coast , including NYC Comic Con, C2E2, Steel City Comic Con. His current body of work centers around ancestral stories of the Orisha, and crafting Affirmations to inspire and uplift his community. To check out his work, follow @bc2art on all social platforms.

Cagen Luse

Cagen Luse is a visual artist and entrepreneur. He is the artist and author of LunchTime ComiX, (@lunchtimecomix) a comic series about life, love, family, and the issues people of color face in today's world.  The Series has been published in the local Alt-weekly DIG Boston and various social media platforms. He also runs his own business, 950design, (950design.com) that produces hand-made items such as tee shirts, art prints, buttons, and note cards featuring his original art work. Cagen is also the organizer of  Comics in Color monthly event series and The Boston Comics in Color Festival (comicsincolor.org) Boston’s first comic arts festival focusing on stories by and about people of color.

André LeRoy Davis

I am an artist who has visually documented the world of Hip-Hop and its entertainers for the last thirty- two years. I am a writer, journalist, graphic designer, curator and teacher with a BFA from The School of Visual Arts. I wrote and illustrated the humorous, political and poignant column, The Last Word in The Source magazine for 16 years. In 2016 I was awarded the ECBACC Pioneer Lifetime Achievement Award. My artwork has been featured in movies, books, on comic book covers and on album covers. A few venues where my work has been displayed are The Cartoon Art Museum, The Schomburg, Fullerton Museum Center and The Brooklyn Museum.

Barrington Edwards

Studio Vexer

Barrington, an artist activist from Boston, attended the Massachusetts College of Art where he earned both a BFA in Communication Design and a MSAE in Art Education. Barrington taught visual arts at the Boston Arts Academy for nineteen years. He is an award winning teacher and artist, a publisher of comics and graphic media and works as a freelance artist and consultant. He currently teaches art education at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and makes comics in many forms.

FOWARD COMIX®

FOWARD COMIX® was founded by Jerome Walford in 2012. This Brooklyn-based, small press has published a number of award-winning works, including the “Nowhere Man” graphic novel series on which Jerome is both the writer and artist.  Recently, FOWARD COMIX® has become known for the “Gwan Anthology” series, a substantial international collection, exploring the immigrant experience through fantastical stories. Each volume contains works by over 30 writers and artists, representing more than 15 countries.

Greg Anderson Elysée

 Webway Comics

Greg Anderson Elysée is a Brooklyn, NY born Haitian-American writer, educator, filmmaker, and model. He is known for the comic Is’nana: The Were-Spider, a multi award winning series that includes 2018 Fan Award, Rising Star, and Best Male Character, and 2019 Best Writer and Story of the Year (Glyph Awards). Is’nana is based on Anansi the trickster god of stories from West African and Caribbean mythology and folklore.  

 

JEAN- PAUL DESHONG blackberryjuicePUBLISHING

Jean-Paul Deshong is an independent comic creator and founder of blackberryjuicePUBLISHING, and creator of the Sons of Fate trilogy. The series is critically acclaimed with Sons of Fate: ORIGINS (VOLUME 1) being inducted in to the Kyoto International Manga Museum in Tokyo Japan, (a feat only known to a handful of titles released outside of the country), and Sons of Fate: Revolutions (VOLUME 3) receiving the moniker of TOP TEN BOOKS of 2018 from Graphic Policy.

 

Juan Espinosa

Bearded Man Comics

Juan Espinosa was born in The Dominican Republic but have been living in NYC for a while now. Mostly known for the comicbook series Adventures of a System Admin. The series was created and is currently written by him. A college dropped out and aspiring system administrator was hired by E.L.Y a research company to protect and confront all type of hackers from exfiltrating valuable information. Everyday there is a hacker with new tricks trying to gain access to the company but JJ is always there to save them.
